German tuner ABT has dropped a couple of photos of the dressed up Volkswagen Up! they will be releasing via the Geneva Motor Show. Usually, their conversions have a DIY bolt-on look that lets most of the car untouched, but this is like going all the way. There isn’t a single panel that has been left untouched.
Hans Jurgen ABT himself says the new Up! is fun to drive around town and especially on narrow streets. It even reminded of the little Abarths his father used to drive.
The Up! has been tuned with a mix of modern and retro styling. Window frames and side skirts are the “common thread” leading straight to the strong back of the ABT up!, where rear masks, an exhaust pipe tunnel and the sporty double exhaust pipe form a unit, the tuner says.
This little car screams “consumer market”, but does so in a very stylish way. Sadly, we can’t report on any power boost, and if any is coming it will take a long time to get here, as the Up! comes with a brand new, never before tuned engine.
