While Chevrolet launched the Chevelle in 1964, the Impala was still the model that brought home the bacon, with its production getting very close to the 900K threhsold.
The numbers are impressive for the Impala. Launched in 1958 as a Bel Air version and promoted to a stand-alone series a year later, the Impala rapidly became America's best-selling car.

Chevrolet produced 1.5 million cars in 1964, so the Impala accounted for more than half of the units that rolled off the assembly lines operated by the GM brand. Of all Impalas sold this year, 536K used a two-door hardtop body style. The Super Sport sales reached 155K cars.

A 1964 Chevy Impala landed on eBay not long ago with a condition that makes it look almost ready to hit the road.

eBay seller beamonjohnnie explains that they started the restoration process long ago but can't finish it due to health problems. However, 99% of the work is already done, so the buyer will only have to repair the driver's seat, which shows typical wear signs, and fix the paint. Everything else is already refreshed, with the Impala now sporting a new gas stank, a rebuilt carburetor, a new ignition, and a new radiator, among other things.

The owner claims the Impala is still a matching-numbers Chevy. It's at its second owner, who purchased the car from the person who took the car home from the dealership specifically to restore it.

The engine under the hood is the base offering for this model year. The Impala comes with a 283 V8 engine rated at 195 horsepower. It was offered alongside the base six-cylinder – 230 six with 140 horsepower. However, Impala buyers could also choose from more potent units in 1964, including a 327 with 340 horsepower and a 409 with multiple power outputs. The top unit was the 409 with 425 horsepower.

The mileage on this Impala is surprising, albeit it's unclear if it's original to the car. The odometer shows 24K miles, so you should ask for more information, as a low mileage could be a major selling point and make the car more desirable, especially considering the numbers still match.

The selling price makes sense, given that the car is 99% complete. However, you should keep in mind that a professional paint job isn't cheap, and you'll spend extra on making this Impala shine like a new car again. The owner is willing to let the Impala go for $29,000, and the price is firm, considering they did not enable the Make Offer button on eBay.

You can find it parked in San Jacinto, California, and according to the auction site's statistics, 30 people are already watching the listing, possibly discussing a potential purchase with the owner.
