Following the BMW recall announced yesterday, MINI Australia also said that it will be undergoing a similar operation, recalling 329 diesel-powered MINI Countrymans, according to Car Advice.
It seems like the cars have a problem at the electric power steering unit that could lead (in certain conditions) to a possible vehicle fire. The recall is addressed to the owners of R60 MINI Cooper D Countryman cars built between August 1, 2010 and March 18, 2013.
According to the official recall notice on the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission’s (ACCC) product safety recalls website, moisture penetrating the plug-in connection of the ESP adapter could cause electro-corrosion on the contacts.
The replacement operation would take up to an hour to complete and will be a no-cost job for MINI owners. At the moment no incidents caused by the part in discussion were reported.
