Short of knowing the full synopsis, we have a pretty good idea what the next James Bond movie will be all about. We know the actors, we know the title, we know the filming locations, and we believe to know all about the cars that will star in No Time to Die.
For a while now 007’s trusted car supplier, Aston Martin, said the DB5 nameplate would be making a comeback in the franchise, joining other cars like the Aston Martin V8 and Aston Martin Valhalla in a weird mix of motoring past and present.
Most of the film’s crew is currently on location in Italy, in the final stages of filming ahead of next year’s premiere. On Monday, on James Bond’s official Twitter page, images of several Aston Martin DB5s showed up, on the set in Matera, Italy.
It’s not clear what the scene calls for the DB5 to do, and why there are three of them on-site, but the post does hint to a critical moment in the movie.
“The #DB5 is ready for its close up. Filming on #NoTimeToDie continues in Matera, Italy with 007’s iconic @astonmartin #Bond25” the tweet reads.
The Aston Martin DB5 has been a Bond companion ever since the first movie more than half a century ago. Perhaps this is why it is considered the most famous Bond car ever. Since its first appearance in Goldfinger in 1964, the DB5 has been Bond’s companion in six other movies, the most recent of which being Spectre in 2015.
During all this time, it has been driven by all three major Bond actors: Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan
and Daniel Craig.
The next installment of the Bond series is scheduled for spring 2020 release and will see a retired James Bond being recalled into action to fight yet another global danger.
