Ducati announces that they agreed to let the legendary Italian rider Max Biaggi test ride Ben Spies' Ignite Pramac MotoGP bike in a one-day test at Mugello this Thursday.
There is a lot of stir in the Ducati camp, especially as the team seems to be on the good track once more, as their machinery looks like it is again in the ballpark of "truly competitive".
Now, Biaggi has not ridden a GP machine since 2005, after he left MotoGP, so it's yet unclear what kind of feedback is Ducati waiting for from him.
Though the electronic controls of a MotoGP bike are pretty close to what Biaggi was used to on his WSBK Aprilia, it looks like he has no experience with the GP Bridgestone tires, so it will really be interesting to find out his impressions on this racing beast.
Factory riders Nicky Hayden and Andrea Dovizioso will also join Biaggi in the Thursday test, but they will also do rides on Friday. The two will be riding the latest version of the “lab bike”, which is said to test upgrades for chassis rigidity. However, there is no exact telling as to when will the new machinery be ready for racing.
