The Swedish automaker, under Chinese patronage, is one of the most adamant supporters of the zero-emissions lifestyle – albeit with baby steps.
The Scandinavian company promotes a healthier way of living with electrification at the forefront and has taken many steps in that direction – baby steps, that is. For example, years ago, they decided to stop producing engines larger than four cylinders, instead of assisting them with electric motors for increased performance, if needed and wanted.

Now, they also have all-electric vehicles in the range, along with mild hybrids and plug-in hybrid powertrains. In Europe, for example, the all-new EX30 is sitting alongside the C40 and XC40 Recharge models, plus the all-new EX90 flagship. However, in America, only the C40 and XC40 Recharge models are available for purchase at the moment, at $54,895 and $53,745, respectively.

At long last, the dedicated Volvo EX90 has finally gone into production in America after previously getting plagued by the virus of modern cars – software issues. Now, the flagship EV has finally entered production with a two-year delay and is supposed to help the company restart its triumphant march toward a fully electric lineup.

On the other hand, there's some bad news for passenger car fans because Volvo decided to kill off the S60 sedan in the United States as demand collapsed over the past few years. They won't wait until the end of S60's life cycle and will phase out the model at the end of the month – the situation is that dire.  Well, no worries, in its place, someone dwelling across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators suggests a replacement.

Vince Burlapp (aka vburlapp on social media or burlappcar.com) is a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream of all the latest models across the wide-ranging automotive realm – and he's now thinking about the fate of the V60 station wagon. Volvo is one of the very few manufacturers still offering a veritable lineup of estates in America – the V60 Recharge plug-in hybrid and V60 Cross Country (mild hybrid), plus the V90 Cross Country.

Well, this pixel master's solution is simple – Volvo could marry the two V60 models into one singular offering that would sit alongside the upcoming EX60 that should be priced between the $35k EX30 CUV and the $77k EX90. In fact, the CGI expert believes that Volvo should always offer a station wagon – otherwise, it would be like Disney without animations or Volkswagen without a Beetle (pun intended).

So, this design project contemplates the option of a Volvo all-electric station wagon, potentially nicknamed EV60, and offers the practicality of an estate model combined with the CUV traits of the Cross Country version. Do you think it could sell well?
