It's summer already, but the automotive industry hasn't gone on vacation just yet because June is the host of a few important reveals – and the one for the ages, for sure, is the introduction of the latest Bugatti hypercar.
The upcoming Bugatti Tourbillon is another mid-engine masterpiece that only looks closely related to the Chiron and Veyron before it because it needs to adhere to styling tradition. It's an all-new development, though, and it also features a new plug-in hybrid powertrain combining an 8.35-liter Bugatti x Cosworth V16 engine with three electric motors for a combined output of 1,775 horsepower, and the 24.8-kWh battery offers an electric range of up to 60 km or 37 miles on the WLTP standard.
One of the inspirations for the new model – as per the name – were mechanical watches, and of course, there's a Jacob & Co. Bugatti Tourbillon timepiece designed to complement and celebrate the achievements and exclusivity of the new hypercar. The lineage – EB 100, Veyron, Chiron – is quite obvious, and we can easily bet the 250-unit model will soon turn into a veritable series, just like its predecessors.

Remember, the Chiron alone had Sport, Sport 100 Ans, Super Sport 300+, Noire, Pur Sport, Les Legendes du Ciel, Super Sport, Pur Sport Grand Prix, and Profilee variants. There were also derivatives – such as the track-oriented Divo, the Centodieci tribute, track-only Bolide, and the W16 Mistral last hurrah convertible, so we fully expect the same to happen with the Tourbillon once production gets underway. Of course, there are some impatient people around town – and the most restless ones always dwell around the imaginative realm of digital car content creators.

As such, here is Saint Petersburg, Russian Federation-based virtual artist Aksyonov Nikita, who prepares a fresh take on the latest Bugatti - the Tourbillon with the wind blowing in your hair. Yep, you guessed correctly – this pixel master bets that the first Tourbillon derivative will be a Roadster version – unlike with the Chiron, where the convertible was the last to appear. Naturally, the CGI expert has a nice treatment to go along with the Tourbillon's lack of overhead protection – a dual-tone color switch to a combination of Peach and glossy black on the lower areas, the rear arches, and the windshield frame.

As far as we can tell, the changes to the upper part of the Tourbillon aren't overly extensive – the hypercar gets a normal windshield wiper instead of the central one inspired by motorsport prototypes, the rooftop is gone along with the butterfly doors (now they're frameless and classic-hinged), and the rear gets two thick arches with no central fin, plus a small spoiler sits between the two seats. So, which one would you choose If you had around $4 million lying around useless – the coupe or this unofficial, hypothetical Roadster?
