Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) recently announced the pricing details for one of its last surviving members of the passenger car sector and also the May plus year-to-date sales, which have gone up by 8.3 percent compared to the same period of 2023.
The 2025 Mazda3 has a starting MSRP of $23,950 or $24,950 in sedan and Hatchback form, a small increase compared to last year. However, throughout May, they didn’t bank on the passenger cars for their delivery increases – instead, the crossover SUVs did all the heavy lifting.

More precisely, while the Mazda3 did jump by more than 22%, with January to May sales of over 15k, the MX-5 Miata, in turn, tumbled and crumbled by more than 30%. In turn, the CX-30 was up almost 40% to over 44k units, the CX-50 jumped almost 53% to over 27k examples, and the big, family-oriented CX-90 three-row CUV reached the stratosphere with a 435.5% surge to over 18k units.

Wait, what about the CX-5 and the all-new CX-70? Well, the eternal best-seller is waiting for a refresh procedure and has slugged 13.5% to a little over 58k vehicles, but it’s still the most popular Mazda out there. As for the CX-70 newcomer, it’s still early to see if it’s a new hit like the CX-90 or a flop because it went from zero to 181 units, of which 136 alone were delivered in May.

However, we have a hunch that Mazda won’t make too many of them for the US market because, curiously, the two-row sibling of the three-row CX-90 is more expensive. As such, the Japanese automaker wants at least $40,445 for the 2025 CX-70, whereas the 2024 CX-90 starts from $37,845. Even if you don’t need the extra space, who would be foolish enough to pay extra for minus two seats?!

Anyway, we are not going to hold it against anyone who decides the Mazda CX-70 fits perfectly in their garage or on the driveway – instead, here’s some advice from the imaginative realm of digital car content creators: get it a little more stylish with a set of larger aftermarket wheels to make sure the proportions are tighter all around.

So, here is Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, who thinks that now is the right CGI time to make a ritzier Mazda CX-70. Thus, he fits a couple of examples – one in gray (Polymetal Gray Metallic, a $450 option) and another in a cool shade of Melting Copper Metallic with red brake calipers and trendy Y-spoke alloy wheels. What do you think – does it look more convincing like this as a crossover SUV ranging from $40 to $56k (without adding the destination charge and options)?
