Kia refreshed the combustion-only Sorento for the 2024 model year. The Sorento Hybrid followed suit for 2025, with prices kicking off at $38,690 for the front-wheel-drive Sorento Hybrid EX trim level.
That's $38,690 plus $1,375 for the destination charge. All-wheel drive adds $1,800 to the final price of the entry-level trim, which features a helluva lot of standard kit. Higher up the spectrum, the Sorento Hybrid SX Prestige comes with all-wheel drive by default. It's $46,890 excluding the aforementioned charge, meaning $48,265 before any other applicable taxes and optional extras.
A sharper-looking crossover than before, Sorento Hybrid combines a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a torque-converter automatic, a 44.2-kW electric motor, and a 1.5-kWh battery. This combo is good for 227 horsepower and 258 pound-feet (350 Nm) of torque at full chatter, while combined fuel economy is 36 miles per gallon (6.5 liters per 100 kilometers) with front-wheel drive.

When it comes to standard equipment, highlights include a panoramic instrument panel that combines a 4.3-inch TFT screen and a 12.3-inch touchscreen.
Going for the better-equipped trim level means 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The fancier instrument cluster unlocks the so-called Connected Car Navigation Cockpit, which is Kia speak for an operating system with faster processing speeds. The better setup further sweetens the deal with Digital Features and Services Over The Air updates. If you're not interested in that, fret not because wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard on the front- and all-wheel-drive EX.
The Sorento Hybrid EX also gets USB-C ports for all three rows. Advanced Digital Key 2.0, ventilated front seats, and a suede headliner make the Sorento Hybrid SX Prestige that little bit more tempting because you can't option these goodies on the Sorento Hybrid EX. Speaking of which, both grades can be furthered with a $350 auto-dimming rearview mirror that includes HomeLink.
A carpeted cargo mat with seatback protection will set you back $115, with said price shared by the cargo tray. Customers are presented with a $190 cargo cover and a $55 cargo net as well. On the driver-assist and safety fronts, the available Highway Driving Assist 2 with automatic lane change and Smart Cruise Control-Machine Learning are considered the crème de la crème.
SCC-ML rolled out in October 2019. This AI-based advanced driver assistance system is programmed to learn the driver's patterns and habits. Of course, the driver also has manual adjustments at its disposal. The Highway Driving Assist 2 system is a combination between adaptive cruise control with stop & go capability, lead-vehicle distance technology, as well as lane-centering assistance.
Being a three-row hybrid, the Sorento Hybrid has a limited number of rivals in the segment, beginning with the mechanically similar Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. At press time, Hyundai's take on the Sorento Hybrid is $36,950 before destination.
