August has been a hectic month so far, as far as the North American automotive market is concerned. First, Toyota revealed the all-new 2024 Land Cruiser, then Hyundai ushered in the world premiere of the Santa Fe mid-size CUV in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Following that, General Motors took over New York City to bring to Times Square the first-ever, all-electric 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ full-size EV SUV, and we're eagerly waiting on the tidal wave of reveals and introductions set to wrap up Monterey Car Week like a charm this coming weekend.
Of course, given the avalanche of novelties, people need to take a step back, breathe in, and choose their favorites. And that's also valid across the imaginative realm of digital car content creators. For example, Dimas Ramadhan, the virtual automotive artist behind the Digimods DESIGN channel on YouTube, has taken up the task of revealing something new for the recent Santa Fe: pickup truck - and in CGI!
We are going to say this idea is just a little original. After all, many pixel masters rushed in to morph the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser into three-door convertible SUVs and two- or four-door pickup trucks. Even the 2025 Caddy Escalade IQ was treated to the same cargo bed ideas in a bid to bring back fond memories of the times when Cadillac was building Escalade EXT pickup trucks. As such, it was only logical and a matter of time before someone proceeded down the same path with the boxy, ruggedly styled Hyundai Santa Fe.
Besides, Hyundai already has a posh pickup truck – the unibody Santa Cruz model. However, this CGI expert didn't want the hypothetical Santa Fe pickup truck to compete in the mid-size class with the only other unibody model – Honda's Ridgeline. Instead, he went directly to the top in the full-size segment. And for that, he clearly needed a body-on-frame donor, right?
Well, no worries, the author struck a virtual deal with General Motors, and its GMC Sierra donated the posher looks in a digital moment – the American truck's styling is still clearly visible when checking out the profile of this unofficial Hyundai Santa Fe pickup truck. On the other hand, the boxy H-styled front fascia and the quirky rear work amazingly well on top of a full-size body-on-frame pickup truck's underpinnings.
Too bad it's just wishful thinking, as a collaboration between General Motors and Hyundai would obviously have some potential to disrupt the established order where Ford's F-Series keeps snatching the crown from GM and Stellantis' Ram Trucks. On the other hand, Hyundai and Kia don't seem too keen on partnerships with rivals, and GM already has ongoing affairs with Asian carmakers like Honda. So, don't bed your hard-earned cash on seeing a Hyundai Santa Fe pickup truck anytime soon on the road.
