2025 Honda Civic Sedan Pricing Revealed, Hybrid Powertrain Tops 49 MPG Combined

Refreshed for model year 2025, the Civic has finally gained a hybrid setup in the United States. Unfortunately, that one's more than four grand pricier than the non-hybrid LX trim level. Sans the $1,095 destination charge, Honda's 2025 model year Civic Sedan LX starts at $24,250 in the US.

By comparison, the 2024 model continues to be listed on Honda's website at $23,950 before taxes and options. The next level up is dubbed Sport, which adds $2,000 worth of standard goodies to the suggested retail price. Customers in the market for the hybrid are required to shell out $28,750 for the Sport Hybrid or $31,750 for the Sport Touring Hybrid. Both of them are good for 49 miles to the gallon (4.8 l/100 km) on the combined test cycle.

There's no pricing or fuel economy information available on the 2025 Civic Si and Type R, which are to be detailed in the coming months. The Civic Hatchback – including the first-ever Civic Hatchback Hybrid – will arrive in dealer showrooms in late summer. That being said, let's talk about the redesigned Civic Sedan's oily and electric bits.

As you might have guessed by now, the LX and Sport retain the 2.0-liter NA four-cylinder and continuously variable transmission of the pre-facelift. Said engine is the hybrid's Atkinson-cycle lump, which develops 158 horsepower without hybrid assistance or 150 horsepower when combined with American Honda Motor's two-motor hybrid system.

The hybrid motors and 2.0-liter engine are produced stateside at Honda's Ohio Transmission Plant and the Anna Engine Plant. As you might have guessed by now, the 2025 Civic Sedan is not available with the 1.5-liter turbo four-pot of the pre-facelift. Honda Canada lists the 2025 model with the aforementioned engine, packing 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet (260 Nm) of twist.

There's no word yet on the Civic Type R, which – in a similar fashion to the Civic Si – will retain its manual transmission and force-fed engine. For model year 2024, the CTR develops a stout 315 horsepower and 310 pound-feet (420 Nm) from a displacement of 2.0 liters rather than 1.5 liters.

Turning our attention back to the 2025 Civic Sedan Hybrid, that fellow develops a combined 200 horsepower and 232 pound-feet (315 Nm). Not only does it outperform the Civic Si's high-output 1.5er in terms of torque, but also promises 13 to 15 more miles per gallon than the 2024 Civic Sedan EX-L and Touring with the 1.5-liter turbo engine.

The Sport Hybrid stands out over the non-hybrid Sport by means of a standard moonroof, dual-zone climate control, and heated front seats. As for the Sport Touring Hybrid, the best-equipped Civic Sedan for 2025 adds 12-speaker premium audio from Bose, leather seating, a larger touchscreen, and a wireless charger for your Qi-enabled phone.
