The muscle car game may be at its lowest, with only two such proposals: the latest-generation Ford Mustang (ICE) and the all-new Dodge Charger (ICE and EV). However, the main players are reportedly looking to cash in more on the iconic nameplates by launching additional models.
For instance, the Blue Oval is supposedly interested in expanding the Mustang lineup. The current offering comprises the coupe and convertible versions of the S650 alongside the completely unrelated Mach-E electric crossover. If everything goes as planned, then a four-door sedan might soon join them.

The brand's head honcho, Jim Farley, recently hinted at a possible four-door Mustang. The model would need to retain the muscle car's DNA, and due to its size and shape, it would take a swing at Dodge's all-new Charger Sedan. Moreover, it would also become a mainstream alternative to the likes of BMW's 3 Series/4 Series Gran Coupe.

Farley specifically said the automaker will "never build a Mustang that isn't a Mustang," and this nameplate will never adorn something like a "two-row Ford SUV." At the same time, the Dearborn company would be open to "exploring" other body styles, such as a sedan, though they'd need to "possess all the performance and attitude of the original."

Such a move can be considered bold in today's car world that's dominated by crossovers, and as you can assume, it has led to the virtual creation of several four-door S650 Mustangs. The latest we stumbled upon has the peeps at Kolesa behind it and imagines what such a model may look like while retaining a realistic approach.

The renderings shared above show a new-gen Mustang with an extended wheelbase and no fewer than four doors. The model has an extended roofline that's arched behind the central pillars for a coupe-like appearance. It also offers more space for backseat occupants than the real two-door muscle car and features the same front and rear fascias.

Overall, we dig the idea of a four-door Ford Mustang, especially since it would allow the brand to take a swing at Dodge's Charger Sedan. Moreover, General Motors also seems to be interested in such a model that might utilize the iconic Camaro nameplate. You see, while the new Dodge Charger comes with both electric and gasoline power, the alleged four-door Mustang is said to remain committed to the ICE game, whereas the supposed Camaro Sedan might be an EV.

Thus, there's a lot to hold our breath for when it comes to such rides, which would allow their makers to tap into a different class. But would you ever be open to buying a four-door muscle car? And if so, would it be the Charger, Mustang, or the Camaro?
