The second largest US automaker, Ford Motor Company, has been heavily preoccupied with motorsports as of late – they went to France with their Mustang GT3 to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, presented the Mustang GTD Carbon Series with Performance pack there, and more.
The more department includes their new 1,400-hp F-150 Lightning SuperTruck that will compete in the 2024 edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb after their SuperVan 4.2 quashed the previous EV record by almost 37 seconds last year. Naturally, that's all fine and dandy – but Ford's not going to make too many new customers with the Mustang GTD, which costs $325k at home and reportedly $562k in Europe!

Instead, they will bring home the dough with models like the upcoming 2025 Ford Expedition – their biggest SUV is expected to receive an ample makeover for the new model year and thus compete on par with the refreshed 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. It's a highly competitive market, indeed, which also includes the upcoming GMC Yukon and Yukon XL facelift, the hybrid Toyota Sequoia, or the upcoming all-new Nissan Armada based on the recently announced Infiniti QX80.

Anyway, the US carmaker has been hard at work testing the updated three-row SUV for more than a year already, and the rumor mill believes that it will finally get the grand unveiling before the end of the year. While it won't be an all-new redesign, the massive three-row SUV will feature some pretty extensive interior and exterior changes – though it might soldier on with the exact same powertrain options. The latter includes just one engine but with three options for tuning – the base model has the twin-turbo 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 at 375 horsepower, followed by the intermediate options with 400 hp, and the top version has no less than 440 hp.

However, if you're impatient and eager to find out more about the design changes – both inside and outside, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is always ready to fulfill these unofficial dreams. So, the good folks over at the AutoYa info channel on YouTube have a satellite venue dubbed AutoYa Interior, and that's where all the (CGI) Expedition action is happening right now. Take it with a pinch of salt, of course, as these renderings are completely unofficial, and the channel is not connected to Ford in any way.

However, the pixel master based his latest work on the freshest spy photos of captured prototypes, and this second mid-cycle refresh might come with a new fascia (potentially with different styles for various trims, just like on the 2024 F-150 full-size pickup truck), restyled LED taillights, and a completely revamped interior. Everyone expects Ford to start mimicking Lincoln – the 2024 Nautilus, for example, has a massive 48-inch screen sitting atop the dash between the A-pillars – and the big Expedition could also get an ultra-wide arrangement.

As always, the resident CGI expert didn't forget about interior and exterior color changes, so the CGI palette is present and accounted for alongside a quick old versus new comparison feature. So, what do you think? If the 2025 Ford Expedition looks like these hypothetical renderings, do you think it will stand a chance of beating the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, plus the 2025 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL?
