GM unveiled the all-electric Cadillac Escalade iQ in August 2023, with plans to start production in October for the 2025 model year. As announced at launch, prices start at "around $130,000" for the base Luxury 1 trim. This makes it pricier than all Escalade ICE variants except the range-topping Escalade-V. Here's how much the other Escalade iQ trims will set you back.
Despite multiple pledges to surpass Tesla in EV sales, GM has suffered an embarrassing setback with its EV programs. For most of 2023, only one EV model sold in meaningful numbers: the Chevy Bolt EV. In the meantime, the company's newest EVs, based on the Ultium platform, have seen disappointing production numbers. Despite GM's many brands announcing a flurry of EV models, none were produced at scale, making one wonder why GM is spreading its limited EV resources so thin.

The Ultium architecture is a generic name that comprises Ultium batteries and drive units. These are used, among others, to power the BT1 platform, which underpins a wide range of large electric pickup trucks and SUVs. These include the GMC Hummer EV and Hummer EV SUV, Chevrolet Silverado EV/GMC Sierra EV, and the Cadillac iQ, with more models from all three brands expected in the future.

The Cadillac iQ shares many details with the GMC Hummer EV SUV, including the sophisticated 800-volt electric architecture, with two electric motors delivering up to 750 horsepower. Cadillac also boasts up to 460 miles (740 km) of range, an impressive figure considering that the GMC Hummer EV SUV only gets 313 miles (504 km) from the same 212-kWh battery.

At launch, Cadillac announced that the Cadillac iQ production would start this summer, with sales planned for the second half of the year. However, production start has been delayed until October, which means that the all-electric Cadillac will arrive at the dealership much later, probably still in time for the winter holidays. This gives you more time to save money because the iQ is the most expensive Escalade variant, with the exception of the range-topping Escalade-V.

As announced last year, prices start at $129,990, not including the $2,290 destination charge. This will get you an AWD powertrain in the Luxury 1 trim. The Cadillac iQ Sport 1 trim, roughly comparable to the Luxury 1, starts $500 higher, at $130,490. Both feature 11.5 kW onboard AC charging, the coveted curved pillar-to-pillar 55-inch infotainment display, four-wheel steering, and Air Ride Adaptive Suspension with Magnetic Ride Control.

Next come the Luxury 2 and Sport 2 trims, which will set you back $149,990 and $150,490, respectively. These up the AC charger power to 19.2 kW, a welcome upgrade, considering the massive battery pack. These trims also add power open and close doors, a 36-speaker AKG audio system, Night Vision, 9-module adaptive headlights, and 16-way power front seats with massage and power bolsters.

As you can see, the Escalade iQ is too expensive to qualify for the federal tax credit. However, these are only the base prices. Cadillac mentions under the Esalade iQ picture on its website that the pictured model could reach $175,000. Although we have no information about the pricing of optional equipment you can specify on the Escalade iQ, I'm sure it's going to be expensive.
