Many things have changed in my life over the past 10 years. Back then, I didn't care about Matchbox cars. But that's not the case anymore. These products are much better today, and my preferences have also shifted over time.
I have at least five or six different Matchbox cars on my "Wanted" list from this year's line-up alone. Given the chance, I'd probably get up to 100 collectibles in a few weeks. I'm sure that will happen once I have a room for diecast cars and memorabilia alone, as space is pretty tight around my house right now. Mattel has been using marketing strategies similar to Hot Wheels for this brand.

That even includes inserting Super Chase models in certain cases. I haven't found one yet, but I have seen many more successful fellow collectors. The '59 Volkswagen 23 Microbus is the most recent Super Chase that comes to mind, although it was part of the Moving Parts collection. Speaking of a more basic series, think of the 1932 Ford Coupe Model B.

More often than not, $30 will do the trick if you want one. So it's not quite at the same "want" level as the Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunts. Anyway, the latest Super Chase was a bit of a surprise to me: it's the Opel Kadett Coupe. I think it may be the final Super Chase for this series in 2024, but don't quote me on that just yet.

I haven't spotted one for sale on eBay, but one shop in Australia will sell you the complete case with the Opel inside for around $70. That's roughly $40 over the regular price, but they seem to guarantee you'll have the rarer item. Let's move on and see what else is inside Mix K, as I've spotted several brand-new castings that you may be interested in.

We have had three variations of the Toyota Hilux before, but neither was as good as this blue version. And if you love collecting pickup trucks, the '95 Nissan Hardbody (D21) reminds you of simpler times. This casting has been a thing since 2020, which means Case K has delivered its seventh iteration. I don't feel like Beige is the perfect color for the 1984 Toyota MR2, but I'm still happy to see this casting, considering there's no Hot Wheels alternative.

Gary Gopinath's 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTE is the first new addition to the Matchbox family here. It's not a car that would normally interest me, but the purple finish was a brilliant direction to go in. The 1962 Ford Anglia is back again, with no opening doors or trunk. Less excitement translates to a more affordable item, so it's up to you to decide which version suits you best. Four years after its debut, I'm happy to see the third iteration of the 1994 Lexus LS400 finally.

Ryu Asada had a real talent for designing these Japanese castings, didn't he? The two-tone finish is just what you'd expect, and I'm adding this one to my list. Another interesting novelty is the 1963 Mercedes Benz 230 SL. It's number 86/100 this year, and seeing another Matchbox convertible on the market is always nice.

The second variation of the Jeep Avenger is here in Aqua Blue after last year's First Edition showed up with a yellow paint job. However, I'm more attracted to the 2016 Chevy Camaro Convertible, featuring a similar color. Matchbox launched it in 2017, so quite a few are available if you want to have the complete collection.

If the MBX Tangiers Tuk Tuk wasn't enough, Indiana Jones fans now have another item to look for: the Ducati Scrambler. Is it better than the Hot Wheels motorcycles? Or would you rather buy a larger-scale bike instead? The Ford Police Interceptor is back with its second variation for 2024, and some of you may remember it debuted over a decade ago in 2011. One thing's for sure: Beetle enthusiasts will quickly look for Mix K once it arrives in stores. That 4x4 model looks like it could conquer any sandbox!
