Nissan's premium car brand, Infiniti, has just taken the QX50 into the 2024 model year. The premium compact crossover is set to arrive at dealers nationwide this month and costs more than its predecessor despite not featuring any novelties.
The family comprises the Pure, Luxe, Sport, Sensory, and Autograph trim levels, carrying a starting price of $40,850 before the $1,195 destination charge. As a result, it has become $550 more expensive than the 2023 model year.
Despite its entry-level status, the 2024 QX50 Pure comes with plenty of equipment, including the 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower displays, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, remote engine start, a frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, and heated side mirrors. Several safety features are also on deck, such as rear automatic braking, forward emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, and high-beam assist.
Priced from $44,150, the 2024 QX50 Luxe adds leather-appointed seats with a heating function for the first row, a panoramic moonroof, an electric tailgate, and roof rails. The QX50 Sport has an MSRP of $49,050 and comes with glossy black trim on the outside, a sportier face, 20-inch alloys, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, Bose premium audio, ambient lighting, navigation system, traffic sign recognition, and around-view monitor with moving object detection.
Customers interested in the Sensory trim level will have to cough out at least $53,350. This grade brings different 20-inch wheels, has adaptive LED headlights, rain-sensing wipers, a head-up display, an improved Bose audio system, natural maple wood trim, Ultrasuede on several elements, heated second-row seats, and a power tilt and telescope steering wheel.
Sitting at the top of the range is the Autograph. The range-topping version of the 2024 Infiniti QX50 family is priced from $57,900, elevating the premium feel with the Ultrasuede headliner and front and mid pillars, quilted stitching on the seats, window shades at the rear, metallic scuff plates in the trunk, a tri-zone climate control system, and several other goodies.
All versions of the 2024 QX50 are offered with standard front-wheel drive, bar the top-of-the-line Autograph, which has an all-wheel drive system at no extra cost. The AWD System is a $2,000 option on the Pure, Luxe, Sport, and Sensory.
Powering the entire 2024 QX50 lineup is a turbocharged gasoline engine. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit is good for 268 hp (272 ps/200 kW) at 5,600 rpm and 280 pound-feet (380 Nm) of torque from 1,600 to 4,800 rpm and is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). Several driving modes are available, and these are called the Standard, Sport, Eco, and Personal.
The EPA-estimated fuel economy is 23/29/26 mpg (10.2/8.1/9.1 l/100 km) in city/highway/combined for the FWD models and 22/28/25 mpg (10.7/8.4/9.4 l/100 km) with the AWD system.
