The all-new, all-electric, second-generation 2024 Acura ZDX Type S will be the first all-electric pace car at the 102nd edition of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 23. So, they have faith in it. Do you?
Acura's first-ever premium all-electric SUV, ZDX, was introduced not long ago, and the first customer deliveries for the single-motor and dual-motor versions kicked off in early May. The 2024 Acura ZDX A-Spec and ZDX Type S, the performance brand's first EV, began arriving at nationwide dealerships with up to 313 miles of range, DC fast charging, and a design that doesn't reveal it's heavily related to General Motors' Ultium vehicle architecture that currently underpins models like the Cadillac Lyriq, Chevrolet Equinox and Blazer EV, or the Honda Prologue.

In fact, the powertrain is shared with the Cadillac Lyriq, while the steering, climate controls, or door handles are shared with the Prologue and, in turn, with the Blazer EV. The pricing, on the other hand, is firmly in the premium sector – The A-Spec RWD with a single motor has 358 horsepower, the A-Spec AWD with dual motors has 490 hp, and the Type S packs 500 ponies, but the MSRPs start from $64,500, $68,500, and $73,500, respectively.

Nobody knows if the Acura ZDX will be a success in this continuously changing EV climate where just a few months ago, the Tesla Model Y was battling for the title of world's best-selling automobile (irrespective of the powertrain's nature), and just half a year later everyone is thinking about going back to the ICE ways of old because EV sales are stalling, and resale values are plummeting.

Well, if you have already decided and the Acura ZDX is on the way or in the driveway, no worries – there's still time to make it stand out in any EV crowd. More precisely, the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is eager to lend a CGI helping hand - Nikita Chuicko, the virtual artist better known as kelsonik on social media, thinks that now is the right CGI time to work on an enhanced Acura ZDX.

Although the Acura ZDX Type S has some pretty cool shades on the options list, including dual-tone hues, the pixel master decided to be as classic as possible with a silver paintjob and his signature CGI Shadow Line transformation working wonders alongside the black rooftop and pillars. Additionally, the author didn't consider his job finished before tucking the all-electric crossover SUV on larger aftermarket wheels that feature a nice darker shade of gray and a Y-spoke motif.

So, what do you think? Are these changes enough to make the Acura ZDX Type S stand out in any (CGI) crowd? Or is the all-electric CUV doomed because of its rather high price?
