The Ferrari 296 GTB is easily a Top 5 ‘best supercar in the world’ candidate. The Italian carmaker did an amazing job with that hybrid twin-turbo powertrain, in the sense that it's way quicker to 60 mph than advertised. It’s almost SF90-like quick, for a fraction of the price.
Ferrari unveiled the 296 GTB back in the summer of 2021, calling it the “first real Ferrari with just six cylinders” - with previous six-cylinder models (the Dinos) not having been as 'OP' as the 296 in terms of performance and overall driving dynamics (compared to their historical rivals). On paper, this is a tremendous supercar.

The only thing that might hold it back in terms of popularity could be the styling. It looks good, but not great. The design language is perhaps too subdued, but you can work around that as long as you nail the spec just right.

Now, the car we’re looking at here is a 2023 example (with 675 miles on the clock) finished in Nero with Giallo Modena accents and over $185,000’s worth of optional extras. This cost $524,651 when new, and just recently it failed to sell for $397,000. Its owner, a dealership out of Pennsylvania, clearly thought they could get more and perhaps they’re right.

We’ve seen another, very similar, 296 GTB go for $416,000 back in January, and it didn’t even have the Assetto Fiorano package. Of course, we live in different times than we did 5 months ago, as far as the used car market is concerned. We should also note that the Nero and Giallo Modena color combo might not be to everyone’s liking, but if you’re a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, you’ll probably love this thing. Same goes for Penguins fans, or even Bruins – two NHL teams with predominantly black and yellow uniforms.

In terms of aesthetics, this 296 also comes with a carbon fiber rear diffuser, enamel Scuderia Ferrari fender shields, the AFS lighting system, racing stripes (also part of the Assetto Fiorano package), plus a set of Gloss Nero 20” wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and yellow Brembo calipers.

Interior highlights include the ventilated and full-electric Nero leather seats with contrasting Giallo accents, several carbon fiber accents, a leather and Alcantara-covered dashboard, premium hi-fi sound system, wireless smartphone charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, a carbon fiber-trimmed steering wheel, and several modern driving aids such as the surround-view camera and the advanced front driving camera.

As for the twin turbocharged 3.0-liter hybrid V6 unit, it works alongside an MGU-K electric motor and a 7.45-kWh battery, for a total output of 819 horsepower and 546 lb-ft of torque. All that grunt reaches the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the same one you’d find in the SF90 Stradale.

According to Ferrari, the 296 GTB needs roughly 2.9 seconds to go from zero to 60 mph, however, several independent tests have confirmed acceleration times in the 2.4-second range. Truly amazing stuff.
