It’s not long until Toyota pulls the wraps off its most anticipated models in years, the new Supra. Rendered by fans, officially teased and less so officially leaked, the 2020 Toyota Supra will be unveiled at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show on January 14. From there, it will waste no time in getting its wheels onto the road.
Four days after the premiere in Detroit, the first ever 2020 Toyota Supra will go under the hammer at the Barrett-Jackson Auction at the opposite end of the continent, in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The lucky buyer, the one willing to pay the most for the car, will become the first American to get behind the wheel of a new Supra in more than 20 years. The car will carry VIN number 20201, will come in a matte gray exterior with red mirror caps, a red leather interior, and matte black wheels.
To make sure no one is mistaking this Supra with the ones to follow a carbon-fiber badge on the interior will act as a certification that this is indeed the first ever Supra.
More details about this special car will be announced by Toyota closer to the auction date. Whatever the special treatment will be, Toyota promises the prototype “will be representative of the actual production vehicle that will be delivered in the first half of 2019.”
As per the Japanese manufacturer, all the money received for the Supra will go to the American Heart Association and the Bob Woodruff Foundation.
The soon-to-be Supra has been somewhat previewed by the recently launched BMW Z4. Toyota’s take on the model is expected to be radically different when it comes to at least the body style. There is also a Gazoo Racing variant of the Supra that is most than likely to become one of the hottest sports cars out there.
