Sporting kidney grilles that are at least twice the size of the Mk1 model's, the all-new BMW X6 and X6 M have been filmed undergoing road testing.
We might be biased while saying this, but the X6 continues to look way better than its Mercedes-Benz counterpart, the GLE Coupe, which is also testing right now. BMW didn't make the roof bubble out, and the ends of the car are more cohesive.
Of course, the Sports Activity Coupe will remain a controversial niche model, which takes away some of the practicality for which you buy an SUV in the first place. In return, the X6 will give you sportiness.
We think the first model in our video, the one showing white paint, is an M50 type. However, we can't hear the engine, and on the 8 Series, the M Sport package for the 840d looks just like the one for the M850i.
Anything can happen, but the X6 is sure to have at least one M Performance model. So far, its normal cousin only sports a 400 horsepower diesel M50d, though everybody is eagerly awaiting the arrival of a V8 powerhouse with 530 HP.
The same spy video also provides us with glimpses of the X6 M, which has noticeably lower suspension and deep skirts. Its 4.4-liter V8 engine is sure to pack 600 horsepower, and a Competition model will add another 20 immediately after its launch. Of course, six-cylinder engines will be a big part of what the X6 is all about, and BMW has plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid as well.
While the SUC will feature many new toys and luxury enhancers, it probably won't jump up and down on its air suspension like the Mercedes GLE. Will that bothers the serious X6 off-roaders? Probably not, because they don't even exist.
