This time, our spy photographers have sent us pictures of the 911 Cabriolet. You can see all of them in the gallery of this story, which includes images from two agencies that supply us with videos and photographs of the latest prototypes being tested by automakers across the world.
The vehicle that is visible in the photos is an early prototype of the next 911, and its body comes with an extensive layer of camouflage. Some parts are riveted on, while others are visibly bolted on to the body. The engine cover has a different design, which is expected to be modified for the production model.
The position of the third stop light might not change, but its format will evidently be different. Meanwhile, the rear tail lights do not look like those of the ongoing model, so expect a shift in that department. Just like the current 911 Cabriolet, the retractable roof is made of fabric, and it is operated electrically.
A significant shift for the next 911 is within the front lights, which feature a large lens that is surrounded by smaller LEDs. The front bumper has a set of daytime running lights, and the front signals are placed on the bumper, just below the place where it meets the fenders. Porsche’s changes to the front end also include a new grille, along with a different shape of the lid of the front luggage compartment.
The plans for the 911 992 do not stop here, as the German brand will upgrade its platform for weight reduction, as well as improve its rigidity and tech features. The engine range, expected to stick to the flat-six standard, will also be renewed, while the platform will be suitable for future hybrid configurations.
