Make no mistake about it, the tenth generation of the Honda Civic is the best one yet despite the fact some enthusiasts are not happy about the turbocharging treatment. Introduced for the 2016 model year, the newest Civic is $100 more expensive than in ‘17. And very curious indeed, no update is on the menu for 2018.
As the old saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. As for the $100 bump, it’s not a deal breaker whichever way you look at it. The Civic Sedan continues to be the cheapest model of the lot, with the LX 6MT starting at $18,840. Customers that want to upgrade to the continuously variable transmission need to pony up $19,640. The change from manual to CVT also sees an improvement in fuel economy, with the LX CVT rated at 34 mpg combined.

Next up in the 2018 Honda Civic Sedan lineup are the LX w/Honda Sensing, EX, EX w/Honda Sensing, EX-T 6MT and EX-T CVT, EX-T w/Honda Sensing, EX-L, EX-L w/Honda Sensing, EX-L w/Navigation, and Touring. Care to guess how much the Touring costs? $26,700, thank you! The Civic Coupe, meanwhile, kicks off at $19,250 for the LX 6MT and tops at $26,325 for the Touring, which comes as standard with the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine.

In regular tune, the 1.5 VTEC Turbo develops 174 horsepower and 167 pound-feet of torque. Upgrade to the Civic Si, and $24,100 gets you 205 horsepower, 192 pound-feet of torque, and a short-throw six-speed manual transmission for a more engaging driving experience. As before, both the coupe and sedan variants are equipped with plenty of safety equipment from the get-go.

The badge may read Honda, but the tenth-generation Civic is manufactured locally in Alliston, Ontario and Greensburg, Indiana. Only the hatchback is sourced from the UK. As for the engines of the compact model, the plants responsible for them are found in Anna, Ohio and Alliston, Ontario.
