2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Wagon Looks Ready to Roll Out Any Second

It's only been two months since the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class was presented at the North American International Auto Show in January, and can't be more than two weeks since the first production car actually rolled off the assembly line, but the model already looks like it's going to be a great success for Mercedes.
The Germans really did cram all the best features they had available, making the E-Class more of a miniature S-Class than a larger C-Class. Even though, if we were to judge solely by its exterior design, both characterizations would have held water just as well.

Indeed, if there's one bad thing that can be said about the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is that it looks too similar to the other cars in the range. The E-Class used to be the oddball of the family, but those days appear to be behind it now. However, as long as it's a very good-looking car on its own, there's no reason to imagine the E-Class won't be a huge success.

Apart from the sedan, the E-Class range will feature a coupe version, an AMG model, but also a station wagon (which the Germans call the "T-Modell"). This is supposed to be the option that emphasizes practicality, but if we can draw some analogies with the C-Class, expect the wagon to look just as sexy as the sedan. You won't really feel like you'll be making a compromise by going for the two-box car.

This video shows the rear of the new E-Class wagon with minimum camouflage only hiding the details, but letting the overall shape come through. There's also a very conveniently placed C-Class wagon nearby for comparison purposes. Apart from the larger dimensions, the E-Class appears to have more aggressive taillights, while the fake exhaust tips of the C-Class (which we find very irritating) also seem to make room for a pair of real ones. However, that could vary depending on engine options.

Apart from that, the wagon will get absolutely all of the sedan's technological features, which make for a very long list indeed. What's more important is that we could also get an AMG version that will take the fight to the Audi RS6, but Mercedes hasn't confirmed that yet.
