The 2017 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has now started reaching its owners, so it's only normal to see the sportscar hitting the drag strip.
The piece of footage at the bottom of the page allows us to see the naturally aspirated sportscar playing the quarter-mile game.
Given the fact that the 'Vette gets to race against a heavily massaged S550 Mustang, the Chevy doesn't have any chance against the Blue Oval machine, so we'll have to focus on the Grand Sport part of the equation.
Earlier today, we showed you another 2017 Corvette Grand Sport adventure, namely a Motor Trend battle involving the Chevrolet and the 2016 Porsche 911 Carrera S.
While we won't spoil the fun of the video by dropping the 1,320-feet numbers delivered by the Grand Sport, we can tell you the ET seen here beats that delivered in the MT comparison mentioned above.
The difference should come from the prepped surface used in the stunt we have here - the Corvette Grand Sport sprint in question took place at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas.
Keep in mind that the Grand Sport might packs the Z06-like wide body, but the main focus of this Corvette flavor has to do with overall balance The Grand Sport is much more than a set of straight line figures. For instance, this flavor of the Corvette makes it easier to handle at the limit compared to the Z06 monster.
The 650 hp super-Corvette can easily become snappy when pushed to ten out of ten, while the Grand Sport delivers quite the opposite. But that's another story for another time.
Even so, given the extreme level that the tuning market has reached, we expect to see at least a few Grand Sport examples getting the supercharged and perhaps even the twin-turbo treatment and we'll bring you the stories as soon as we get our hands on them.
