Out of sheer luck, some guy spotted a G11 7 Series Prototype testing in Dubai, days before the 2013 Dubai Auto Show began. The big news is that this is one of the few occasions we get to see a BMW prototype being tested in such an environment.
The car has German plates on it so we’re guessing it was flown in the Arabian peninsula to see how it fares with the sand and heat in the region.
The new model will, most likely, be launched on the F01’s 7th anniversary, 2016 and will have plenty of weight saving technologies to make sure the BMW fleet manages to comply with the European CO2 laws.
Furthermore, the new platform will also be used for the new 5 Series and other models (probably the next 6 Series Gran Coupe also). Rumor has it that this will also be the first 7 Series to use a 2-liter turbocharged engine.
