The fact that Skoda is working on a new crossover SUV based on the Volkswagen Taigun Concept is already last year's news. Rumored to hit the market in 2015, the Polar mini SUV will be Skoda's response to the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Dacia Duster.
It's still a long way until 2015 so we're just going to have to see about that... Anyway, reports also claim that the Polar will be underpinned by Volkswagen's MQB platform that also goes under the new Golf 7 and the Audi A3. About 4,100 mm long, the Skoda Polar will be positioned right under the Yeti, the company's first SUV, and arrive with both front-wheel and all-wheel drive.
While details are still scarce, we're going to throw in a new rendering of the Skoda Polar. You know, just to keep you SUV enthusiasts busy until new details surface. As you'll notice, it looks less muscular than the Taigun Concept and it doesn't feature concealed rear doors.
