Nissan has important plans for the 2014 New York Auto Show, with the carmaker now confirming it will release the 2015 Murano at the event. Nissan has also released a teaser video to go along with the announcement.
As you could expect, the teaser doesn’t reveal too much, but the automaker did describe the vehicle as “the halo vehicle for Nissan's expanding range of bold crossovers and SUVs.” This means that we will be able to use the upcoming Murano as a hint for Nissan’s future offerings.
Nonetheless, we can get a pretty good idea of how the Murano will look thanks to the Resonace concept the company showed us earlier this year in Detroit. The Murano has always taken on a bold design and that is not about to change.
The third-generation of the mid-size crossover will be underpinned by Nissan’s D platfrom, an architecture shared with models such as the Pathfinder. As for the engine department, the standard offering is expected to keep the V6 plus CVT configuration.
Nonetheless, just like the Resonance concept, the 2015 Murano is expected to offer a hybrid powertrain. This should mix a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol unit with an electric motor.
This year’s edition of the NY Auto Show kicks off on April 16, so we don’t have to wait too long for the new Murano.
