In the wake of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show we might be in for a surprise. MINI already confirmed it will be on the spot with its new Cooper and Cooper S models of the 2-door hatch but our latest spyshots might suggest another premiere from the British automaker.
The 5-door hatchback model was just spotted on an airfield in the Netherlands, all strapped up and good to go. Where to? We’re not really sure. Apart from a surprise appearance in Detroit next week, the car could also head to a beautiful location around the world for a photo shoot that will come before its unveiling in Geneva later this year.
Either way, the 5-door version looks beautiful, better than I expected, with a visibly longer wheelbase and perfectly proportioned doors. The rear bumper shows 2 pipes so we’re safe to say that this model is a Cooper S version, fitted with a 2-liter 192 HP engine of the new B48 engine family.
