The GMC-branded brother of the Chevrolet Colorado is now available as a special edition model, dubbed Nightfall Edition, and would you just look at it! That sleek, shadowy appearance is something you rarely see on new trucks, especially in the mid-size segment.
Announced back in December by a trademark filing with the US Patent and Trademark Office, it turns out that the Canyon was the one to receive the blacked-out treatment, not the Colorado as it was previously rumored. So what’s there to like about the 2015 GMC Canyon Nightfall Edition workhorse?
Blending the dramatic appearance with a lot of standard equipment, the Nightfall treatment is offered on SLE Crew Cab models, either two or four-wheel drive, exclusively in Onyx Black. As a brief reminder, the SLE trim comes with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, OnStar 4G LTE, leather on the steering wheel and aluminum trim, EZ lift and Lower locking tailgate, as well as 4 USB ports.
In addition to standard equipment on the $30,055 SLE, the yet-to-be-priced Nightfall Edition includes a number of other features, as follows: unique design black grille, black assist steps, polished exhaust tip, spray-in bedliner, 18-inch aluminum wheels with Dark Argent inserts, remote start and climate control.
Going for 4WD models further adds an automatic locking rear diff, while other standard features on every Nightfall Edition include keyless entry, auto-dimming rearview mirror and a parking camera. With the order books opening in early 2015, “the new Canyon Nightfall Edition expands the Canyon lineup and gives style-conscious customers another choice,” says Duncan Aldred, vice prez of GMC sales and marketing.
