Yesterday we learned that the 2015 Ford Mustang will be fitted with a “OEM first” feature, that Mustang chief engineer Dave Pericak, who revealed the news, declined to detail, leaving us to torture our brains at least until the Detroit Motor Show kicks in next month.
Today, a report by Motor Authority claims that the secret feature is actually some sort of burnout “launch control”, an electronic system that will help drivers “execute the perfect, smoky, epic burnout”. The source adds that the system is likely to “enable a line lock on the front brakes, while simultaneously disabling traction control”.
Guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out whether this report is right or not, but if this burnout control feature is real, the 2015 Mustang will probably lose a few more fans. The Mustang doesn’t need electronics to burn rubber, it must be able to do burnouts the good ole fashioned way.
