Ford will launch a collision repair program for dealers and owners of body shops to reassure buyers when it comes to replacing and repairing the aluminum body panels of the 2015 F-150 pickup truck.
The Blue Oval automaker will subsidize 20 percent or up to $10,000 for training and equipment dealerships across the United States, Edmunds reports, adding that the program will make insurance and repair costs to consumers competitive with those of the current trucks.
The manufacturer also revealed that thanks to the truck’s modular design, some parts can be easily replaced in the event of a crash. “We’ve made it so it’s designed for easy repair. It’s easier to repair due to the modular body panels on some parts of the truck. This could save hours of labor time versus the previous truck,” Ford spokesman Mike Levine told the aforementioned source.
The 2015 Ford F-150 was unveiled at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show with an aluminum alloy body that makes it 700 pounds lighter than the model it replaces.
