GM's premium automobile brand announced that the Verano compact sedan will lose the six-speed stick shift transmission option for the 2015 model year. Thus, the tri-shield automaker's entry-level model will be available only with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Just as the outgoing model, the updated Verano has two powerplant options: a 2.4-liter LEA four-pot with 180 hp and 171 ft-lb (232 Nm), along with the turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoTec churning out 250 hp and 260 lb-ft (353 Nm) of torque at 2,000 rpm.
Another big addition to the refreshed Buick Verano is an all-new appearance package that comes as standard on vehicles equipped with the Convenience and Leather trims. This package includes a chrome grille, Desert Dusk Metallic exterior paint and a boot lid spoiler.
Unfortunately for the younger audience, Buick still didn't get rid of the awful chrome eyebrows glued to the rear fascia. Nevertheless, Echo Boomers will certainly dig the OnStar 4G LTE capability that features built-in Wi-Fi hotspot capability. The system comes with a three-month data trial and after that, the cheapest data plan will set you back a mere $5 per month.
Although pricing hasn't been announced yet, expect the 2015 Buick Verano to sport an MSRP close to the 2014 model year, which starts at $23,700. For that money, customers get a lot of kit as standard, including 18-inch alloy wheels, a rearview camera and dual-zone automatic climate control. Upper trim levels add heated seats and steering wheel, a Bose audio system and safety features such as lane departure and forward collision warning.
