In a recent report from two months ago, we detailed Volvo’s future plans that are hoped will increase its global sales in the next few years. At the recent Paris Motor Show, Volvo’s head of marketing told Autonews Europe they plan to refresh two of their sedans, the S60, which is relatively new S60 and the aging S80.
What he failed to mention is that the refresh was finished already! These photos were taken in China and show a brand new look for the S80 sedan, which is in its China-market only version called the S80L, with lots of extra legroom in the back.
The same changes will most likely apply to the 2014 S80 when it is launched next year in Europe and America. The new front end is the most obvious feature on the car. The headlight actually look almost the same as the old ones. However, the bumper and grille assembly is changed. The V80 used to look a bit like the old Audis, a bit rounded and with large intakes on either side. Now, the S80 looks quite a lot like the current Passat: flat surfaces and a single lower grille with chrome strips that travel its length.
