The North American Car and Truck of the Year has announced the finalists in the car and truck/utility categories ahead of the 2014 Detroit Auto Show next month, when the winners will be revealed.
Although the 2014 North American Car of the Year short list was dominated by Asian and German vehicles, two of the three finalists come from GM, Cadillac CTS and Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, while the third spot went to the Mazda3, which means that the Mercedes-Benz CLA and the Jaguar F-Type didn’t make it into the final round.
Moving over to the North American Truck/Utility of the Year, the Acura MDX, the Chevrolet Silverado and the Jeep Cherokee are the trucks and SUVs that made into the finals. Among the popular vehicles that missed the top three, we can find the redesigned BMW X5 and the Range Rover Sport.
The winners will be announced on January 13 at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS). 48 automotive journalists will vote for the 2014 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year.
