2014 MotoGP: Rossi Has to Adapt to Lorenzo's Motorcycle

What comes around goes around, they say, and it looks like MotoGP racing is not an exception to this rule. Yamaha YZR-M1 development team boss Kouichi Tsuji speaks about the bikes of Rossi and Lorenzo, and their development.
Tsuji says that it is Valentino Rossi's turn to adapt to the existing bike, and not the other way around. Basically, the actual machine is in a way developed by, and for Lorenzo, and it proved to be a winning combination, and Rossi must adapt his riding style to it.

Things have been exactly the opposite in the past, with the Yamaha bike developed for Rossi between 2004 and 2009, and Lorenzo riding a bike he had to understand and to cope with.

He managed to do so and the next two years saw the machine being tailored for him, picking up where Rossi had left off. Tsuji says that Yamaha cannot deliver a "Rossi M1" bike in due time this season, and it's not about the money, but about the short notice.

Even more, he adds that even if Yamaha could deliver the 2009 bike to Rossi, the Doctor would definitely not be as good as he was in 2013.

Kouichi Tsuji could not offer a precise comparison of Rossi's and Lorenzo's bikes and seemed a bit evasive when asked what would Yamaha do about Rossi's braking stability complaints: "In 2009, with the setup used at the end of the season, Valentino was able to win races even though he could not do a good lap time. But now it is not so.”

Is this a corporate way of actually saying “learn the damn bike, that's all we got for you this year”?
