Jeep is launching the Wrangler Rubicon X, a special edition model that comes with exclusive styling upgrades and enhanced functionality, in Europe.
Based on the familiar Rubicon trim level, the Rubicon X sports a black seven-slat front grille with black inserts, black 17-inch aluminum wheels, a dual-intake Power Dome hood, deep-tint sunscreen glass and body-color hard spare-tire cover.
The vehicle is also fitted with a body-colored hard top, a first on the Wrangler Rubicon, which is part of the standard Dual Top configuration that includes the Sunrider soft top and the three-piece modular Freedom top. Customers will also benefit from a couple of Mopar accessories, such as a black fuel-filler door and rock rails.
Inside, the Rubicon X can be had with either Red or Black leather seats, standard heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and silver accents for the passenger grab handle, vent rings, steering wheel spokes and door pulls. Jeep is also throwing in a standard UConnect infotainment and navigation system with 6.5-inch touchscreen, 40-gigabyte hard disk, USB, DVD player and voice-activated Bluetooth UConnect Phone.
The package can be ordered with a choice of two engines under the hood. There’s the 2.8-liter turbo diesel mill rated at 200 horsepower and 460 Nm of torque and the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that generates 284 horsepower and 347 Nm of torque. Both units are connected to a five-speed automatic transmission.
The special edition vehicle will become available in both two-door Wrangler and four-door Wrangler Unlimited body configurations in the second quarter of the year. Pricing will be announced closer to launch. The Rubicon X will be on display at the Geneva Motor Show until March 16.
