The hatchback and estate/touring versions of the facelifted 2014 Ford Focus, described as “the most advanced Focus ever” has just been unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show.
While most of the car’s exterior styling remained unchanged, the “new” Focus received the company’s brand new hexagonal grille, and a slightly tweaked front bumper, reworked headlamps, taillights and wheels. Interior updates, however, are more obvious and include a reshaped display and center column, as well as new spokes and buttons for the steering wheel.
Need more updates to make you consider a facelifted Focus? Well, then you should know that Ford equipped the refreshed model with SYNC 2 in-car connectivity, which features high-resolution, eight-inch color touch screen and advanced voice control for easier access to audio, navigation, climate control and mobile phones.
Additionally, the navigation system comes with a split-screen display, a first for Ford in Europe, with detailed intersections, spoken street names, 3D highway junction and landmark views, as well as the Michelin and Michelin Green Guide.
The facelifted Focus is also the first Ford to include Perpendicular Parking, a hands-free technology that helps drivers reverse into spaces alongside other cars. Other features that come with the vehicle are Cross Traffic Alert, Park-Out Assist and Ford MyKey, the latter made available on the Focus for the first time.
As far as powertrains are concerned, the 2014 Focus will be launched with a wide range of engines, including the 1.0-liter EcoBoost, 1.6-liter TI-VCT, 1.5-liter ECOnetic diesel, 1.5-liter TDCi diesel and the 2.0-liter TDCi diesel, mated to either five-speed manual, six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions. A Focus Electric will become available as well.
