It’s been about two weeks since Hennessey Performance has taken a modified 2014 Corvette Stingray beyond the 200 mph barrier, and the Texas-based specialist returned to the Grand Parkway toll road to test their HPE600 Supercharger upgraded 2014 Chevrolet SS.
Although it’s quicker than the stock version, the supercharged sedan was accelerated only to 163 mph (262 km/h), the vehicle’s limited top speed as set by Chevrolet. “SS is limited to 163 mph as factory 6-speed automatic transmission will only allow top speed to be attained in 5th gear,” says Hennessey, suggesting that the SS could go faster once the speed limiter is deactivated.
Until someone figures out a way of doing that, all we can do is watch Hennessey’s SS top out at 163 mph in the video below. And stick around in case Hennessey comes up with updates on Chevy’s brand new high performance sedan.
