Texans love pickup trucks. That's a fact and not just local folklore. Chevrolet knows it and works hard on keeping the Lone Star State happy when it comes to full-size pickups.
Responsible for one out of every six trucks sold nationwide, Texas is about to get a special edition 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. Dubbed Texas Edition (no surprise there, huh?), the package can be had on either the mid-level Silverado LT or the upscale LZT.
Both packages unique "Texas Edition" badges, 20-inch wheels, the trailering package and a locking rear differential. The LTZ version will also feature a Bose premium audio system, while the door handles and mirror caps will be chromed. Powered by the 285 HP V6 engine, the LT package can be ordered for $2,165. The LTZ pack fetches $1,895 and comes with the 5.3-liter V8 mill which delivers 355 HP.
"The Silverado Texas Edition recognizes the fact that one out of every six full-size pickups are sold in Texas," said Maria Rohrer, Silverado marketing director. "It combines features that add real value for Silverado customers with unique badging that honors the connection between Texans and their trucks."
For customers in the other 49 states, a similar package called Custom Sport will be available. However, don't expect to find any Texas Edition badges anywhere on the truck.
