The racing incarnation of the 2013 SRT Viper is set to make its racing debut at the American Le Mans Series Mid-Ohio race on August 4th, but Chrysler is offering us more details about the car early.
The 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R has be developed together with Riley Technologies, with the company set to run 2 GT-class models that are “moderately modified” incarnations of the production vehicle.
However, the class restrictions mean that the racer has to weight at least 2,745 lbs (1,245 kg), can deliver a maximum power of 456-507 hp and offer a top speed of maximum 180 mph (290 km/h), which means that this is inferior to the street version of the Viper.
Of course, the 2013 SRT Viper GTS-R does come with an aerodynamic package consisting of new bumpers, reworked hood, as well as a massive adjustable rear wing. The new Viper will have to fight cars like the Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3 GT, Corvette C6.R, Ferrari F458 Italia, Lotus Evora and Porsche 911 GT3 RSR.
