After the world premier of the Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT 86 in Tokyo, we now have the third and final, the US-spec Scion FR-S sports coupe. To be honest, judging by the photo gallery that came with the reveal, the 2+2 looks really well built... if it had been put together in the early 90s. You’ve got very Porsche-like (read spartan) rear seats and a very Scion-ish radio that look cassette-compatible.
“Serving as a laboratory for Toyota, Scion is always experimenting with new things,” said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. “The brand is iconic with the xB, adrenalized by the tC, and groundbreaking with the iQ. The FR-S will no doubt serve as the halo car, expanding Scion into a new dimension of driving performance."
We might as well show you the Toyobaru press release and be done with it, but here goes: the Scion FR-S is powered by a 200 hp 2.0-liter boxer engine with 151 lb-ft of torque.
It looks nothing like the FR-S concept and exactly like the Toyota GT 86 except the badge.
