COTA gets final tweaks for MotoGP racing
The Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas will see Honda and Yamaha MotoGP teams in a private test March 12-14. Besides Honda's and Yamaha's factory teams, LCR Honda will also be present.
This private test is one of the very important stages before the 2013 season kicks off, as it will put all the bikes and riders involved to some serious testing. The COTA track is virtually new for the three teams, as their setups will be based on the previous tests at Sepang, on a completely different circuit.

Franco Uncini is FIM's new grand prix safety officer, and he inspected the COTA, recommending some tweaks, such as several barrier openings, additional air fences and the removal of some kerbs.

The circuit had been previously homologated for MotoGP, but these inspections are mandatory for safety reasons. Uncini was pleased with what he saw and added:"I like Circuit of the Americas and the facilities are really impressive: it's picturesque, modern, technical, difficult, challenging and interesting. We should be seeing some good races in April because the corners allow for no respite for the riders and should deliver plenty of overtaking."
