The 2013 Ford Focus earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway (IIHS) to become one of the only six small cars to achieve the agency’s highest rating.
The Blue Oval-badged hatchback was rated “good” in the moderate overlap, side impact, rollover and seat/head restraints crashes, and scored an “acceptable” mark in the difficult small overlap frontal crash test, just enough to become a Top Safety Pick+ vehicle.
The 2013 Ford Focus also earned a five-star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) earlier this year.
“Ford is committed to designing vehicles that help keep people safe,” said Steve Kenner, global director of Ford’s Automotive Safety Office. “We are constantly seeking innovative ways to help drivers avoid accidents and keep occupants safe when an incident does occur.”
