Toyota has really embraced the tough image it got from TV series Top Gear describing the Hilux pickup as being virtually indestructible.
Nothing says funny like dipping your finger in the world of ridiculous, and that’s what happened with a New Zealand ad for the facelifted 2012 model year.
It all starts with the utilitarian vehicle taking the usual bails of hay through terrain that would work in the Lord of the Rings trilogy: volcanoes, tornado lands, snowy mountain tops and what looks like the fires of Mount Doom where the Ring was forged and the only place where it can be destroyed.
But the Hilux can take all of that one with no problem, and can even deal with a while bore... with flames coming from its nostrils... and fill body armor.... and two rocket launchers... and a big hog motorcycle (pun intended).
In the sidecar the Hilux owner spots a chimpanzee that looks the rugged man in the eyes and ask four an ice cream.
