(The brand new Subaru XV, which we first got a chance to see at the Frankfurt Motor Show, has now been priced in Australia on the automaker’s official website. Available from January, the compact crossover will start at AUD32,000 on the road, making it significantly cheaper than the base Forester.
The furthest you can spec up your crossover is the range-topping 2.0i-S that costs about $38,000 drive-away and adds leather upholstery and sportier-looking pedals. This is powered by a 2.0-liter boxer with 150 horsepower, which pushes the car to 100 km/h (62mph) 10.5 seconds, maxes out at 187km/h (116mph), while delivering a combined fuel efficiency of 6.9 liters per 100 km (36.2mpg).
In Europe, this car is also available with a base 1.6-liter 114 horsepower and comes with a 5-speed manual as standard, though the CVT is available. There’s also a 2.0-liter diesel that delivers 147 hp and is even faster that the petrol, taking 9.3 seconds to get to 100 km/h and has a top speed of 198 km/h (123mph), while also returning a combined economy of 5.6 liters per 100 km (42mpg).
