A week ago, we told you that Subaru was facing a recall of the brand new 2012 Impreza, as well as the certain Legacy and Outback units. The Japanese automaker had issued a stop sale in order to limit de spread of the potential production flaw.
Now, the official recall of 31,959 2012 Impreza, Legacy and Outback vehicles has been announced to fix a potentially flawed brake pedal, according to the NHTSA. A massive 112 reports of the fault have been sent in by owners.
"These vehicles may be equipped with a brake master cylinder that could malfunction and cause an increase in the amount of brake pedal travel distance required to slow or stop the vehicle," said NHTSA in its recalls summary of the problem. "The driver might misjudge the amount of brake pedal travel required to achieve the desired stopping distance. This could occur unexpected (sic) and without prior warning, increasing the risk of a crash."
The recall is expected to start this month, and for further details owners of potentially affected cars can contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
