Back in July, Honda inally decided to treat us with the first official image of the new Honda CR-V Concept, which hints to how the next-generation model of the crossover will look like when it hits dealerships late this year.
We’re not here to talk about the concept’s lines, as we’ll instead focus on the initial technical specification for the engines that were leaked and have subsequently been looked over by the guys at Temple of VTEC.
The base CR-V will keep offering its US customers a bit of 2.4-liter gasoline reasonableness, but the power has dropped slightly from 180 hp to 175 hp, which we suspect has a lot to do with fuel consumption and lower emissions.
Of far bigger significance is a new engine designation - "New-K25". This is obviously another version of the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will churn out 201 horsepower in the 2012 Honda model.
Like the much criticized new Civic, the CR-V will keep offering a five-speed automatic instead of newer six-speed units that are leading the industry.
