Any piece of news related to the Chevrolet Corvette has the potential to become a delicacy, but some are more special than other. We’ll call this one an appetizer, as it gives us just enough info to keep the fire inside us burning until the 2012 ‘Vette arrives.
The Centennial Edition, which we talked about earlier this month, isn’t the only goodie the 2012 Model Year will bring to the Corvette range. We must thank a dealer, as well as Inside Line for finding out that General Motors will offer a beefed-up ZR1 Performance Package, along with an Ultimate Performance Pack for Z06 customers.
The ZR1 performance kit brings new rims to the game, which use a cup-like design (these will be finished in black), come in a 19-inch size and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup rubber. The front axle will get a pair of 19-inch ones, while the rear one will be fitted with 20-inch ones. And this is not all, as the pack will also offer a special six-speed manual transmission.
As for the Z06 Performance Package, this will include Performance Traction Management, a feature that was previously only available on the ZR1, Magnetic Selective Ride Control, carbon-ceramic brakes supplied by Brembo, as well as the aforementioned wheel-tire combination.
The standard 2012 Corvette will receive a new exterior finish called Carlisie Blue, as well as a series of interior modifications, including suede seat inserts and a sports steering wheel.
