Last week BMW brought us the 3-Series Carbon edition, a final cry of the E90 3er. However, it seems that the M3 Coupe also gets to have a last word (this might not actually be the last one), in the form of the US-exclusive M3 Coupe Competition Edition (only 40 units will be built).
As we’ve accustomed you, we’ll start with the tech side of the story: the Competition Package brings a 10 mm lowered ride height, a set of M3 GTS 19-inch rims that come with a heftier offset, new software for the Electronic Damping Control, as well as for the M Dynamic mode.
Under the hood, we get the same 414 hp output out of the 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 unit, with the M DCT double-clutch gearbox helping the mill push the car past the 62 mph mark in 4.5 seconds.
As for the exterior goodies, these include a BMW Individual Frozen Silver Metallic coat, a dark chrome finish for the kidney grills, M side grills and exhaust tips, as well as a black finish for the hood-mounted air intakes.
In the cabin, we find a black Extended Nobillo Leather finish with palladium silver details for the seats, door panels, center console and others elements, as well as an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, M3 Checkered Flag logos on the door sills and carbon fiber trimming.
Our Mad Max’s say: this might be the last V8...
