The brand spanking new BMW 3-Series is wining awards left and right, at the same time scoring top points with the fans for being the best all-rounder to ever wear the propeller badge. But what’s the best choice when it come to engines?
The answer for most BMW customers in America has been the new 2.0-liter turbo found in the 328i. You might call it a base model, but it’s really not. Recent dyno tests have proven it has way more than the manufacturer estimated 240 horsepower (US model, obviously). That might sound like the same sort of output as the other 2.0 turbo on the market, but BMW has still delivered a road rocket.
This video posted by DragTimes Youtube channel proves this. The 2012 BMW 328i sprints from 0 to 60 mph (98 km/h) in just 5.5 seconds. In he case of the quarter mile run, we get a 14.1s at 99.8 mph, according to data from the Racelogic PerformanceBox. Not bad for a $35,775 German luxury sedan with no mods whatsoever.
